Beyoncé Giselle Knowles est née à Houston en 1981. Dès l'âge de 7 ans, elle se met à la danse et chante dans la chorale d'une église.

Beyoncé et sa cousine, Kelly Rowland , rencontrent Latavia Roberson . Le trio formera en 1990 avec Letoya Luckett un groupe nommé Destiny's Child . En 1998, le groupe lance son premier disque éponyme. La formation devient avec seulement quatre disques, le groupe féminin ayant vendu le plus de disques de tous les temps. Destiny's Child a écoulé quelque 33 millions de disques dans le monde.

Au fil des ans, en plus d'avoir obtenu plusieurs numéros 1, Destiny's Child remporte 2 Grammy Awards , meilleure chanson R'n'B (Say my Name) et meilleure prestation sur scène (Say my Name) en 2001.
